Established in 1980 in St. Petersburg, Pinellas County, Florida, the Krewe was founded by a small group of local businessmen seeking camaraderie and connection with like-minded, fun-loving individuals. Since then, the Krewe has flourished while maintaining a capped membership of 100. We are proudly incorporated as a non-profit organization in the State of Florida.
An important part of our origin is participating in parades, and a big part of that is our float. To read the history of our float, click the float image below.
YMKN is a vibrant social organization focused on creating memorable experiences, fostering new connections, and building lifelong friendships. Although having fun is our primary goal, our members also engage in various civic and charitable organizations beyond the Krewe.

Our founding fathers modeled our organization after the Krewes of New Orleans, bringing their spirit of festivity and tradition to life. Our officers, midshipmen, and seamen proudly wear the uniforms of the British Navy from the 1800s. As seamen at heart, we drew inspiration from King Neptune (the Greek Poseidon), the mythical god of the seas, when naming our organization, “Ye Mystic Krewe of Neptune.”
Â
Neptune’s trident, the symbol of his power, represents the bond of fellowship that unites our members and defines our Krewe.

While we operate independently of other similar organizations in the Tampa Bay area, we are proud members of the Inter-Krewe Council, a network that includes many other local Krewes.
